How do you link singapore spirit to
A WORD
A CONCEPT
Something you want to bring out in Singapore a PART of our culture?
so many hours spent thinking about this -
many spent for the photography contest i thought i would join.
so many more spent in school when we were to come out with a concept for the
singapore pavilion at world expo Shanghai next year

i conclude: words, events, or prominent people of our country are not enough
at least for me - to show singapore spirit. for there is, from the start non to start with. well i think... in order to celebrate THE SINGAPORE SPIRIT, there should be one to start with.

Music - the couple of talented singers enough to show what singapore is all about?
the multicultural society - something we are proud of? does it set us apart from other countries?

in what ways are you proud of singapore?
if you are a foreigner looking at spore - are we square square one? boring? submissive? Lacking in manners? unfriendly?

well if we living in this epoch are unable to do something worthy of mention
there will be no impressive architecture that will surface - more singapore pavilions like this will appear.

for we shape the architecture, the architecture shape us.

is this what we want the world to see?
Shall we vote to change the pavilion design then?

I realise i tend to float here and there and sometimes i lose my direction.
This semester has been really sad i am pretty sure the results are gonna be B.A.D.
nothing less. with a confirm chop DIE. never once in my life had i walked out of the exam hall so depressed and lost. it is a first for me. and i dread the day when everyone get their results...it is going to be painful for me. THE BLACK MARK OF MY ACADEMIC JOURNEY!

that aside i found another thing to look forward to!
a new Handphone - it is going to be a long wait.
and it is going to be worth the wait.
i hope.
Apparently there is no black version yet.
thats fine with me since it's speculated release is 3-6months time,
it will be best for the phone, as it will take that same amount of time
to iron out its problems.

i was counting the number of warning signs i could see on my way to school.
watch your step
dont put your hands on the door mechanism on the SBS bus

Isn't that way too many?
its starting to spoil everyone - people walk around expecting to be warned of dangers or inconvenience they no longer look around; no longer notice the world around them.

i am not saying it is not good but,
i believe that a hot cup of tea will obviously be hot
the bus door mechanism will obviously maul your fingers off if you leave them there while the darn door moves.
the train gantry will obviously clamp you if you are slow
bus opening is low - duh...head
travelator is moving... i mean its dumb not to watch where you are going even if you are just standing on the freaking automated moving strip.
theres a gap, dont jab your leg in, or dont spit your gum inside

accidents can be prevented with common sense and basic obsservation
and inconvenience prevented the same way! otherwise.. with experience can be prevented too!

the stickers are filling what little wall space we can fit into this small nation
stickers of warnings are plastered all over the place; like the new generation wallpaper.

if this doesn't stop soon, more people are going to sue mac for not warning them that eating their deep fried wonder-food everyday will make them obese.
where is the logic?

if the mentality was different from the start - those idiots will be told straight in the face: " if you think that eating that oil glazed fries will be of any good to your health, you might as well go shoot yourself and die now"

i thought that should've been the norm.

Ben and Jerry's Chunk Fest

was one surprisingly sad event.
although the whole idea was to - of course eat ice cream
i felt that the dominant attraction should've been the music
i was searching for images of the chunk fest to upload
(because i saw a whole bunch of photogs taking photos)
i realised B&J chunk fest is like one hell of a outdoor concert - not in Spore
here in spore...there was a queue for the ice cream - it could almost surround the whole of fort canning hill... and nobody was listening to the music except a few with plastic bags and sitting mats on the floor. wholly different scene from other chunk fest.

i will really hope it was only because i was there a lil too early.

but the chunk fest i saw

was a little picnic
with everyone eager to queue their ass off
and some photography students desperately trying to capture a nice photo

just does not feel like a fest to me...

feels like flea market.

Child murder case shocks NZ court

Two New Zealand men have been convicted of murdering a three-year old girl, after months of torturing the child.

Wiremu Curtis, 19, and his brother Michael, 22, face life sentences for the murder of Nia Glassie.

Nia died of brain injuries in hospital on 3 August 2007, two weeks after suffering fatal kicks to her head.

The judge in the four-week trial, Judith Potter, wept as she delivered the sentence and thanked similarly shaken jurors for coping with the case.

That they didn't speak out in time is something family members and neighbours will have to live with

Catalogue of abuse

The court heard details of horrific abuse inflicted on the three-year old:

• She had been kicked, beaten, slapped, jumped on and held over a burning fire

• She had been put into a clothes dryer spinning at top heat

• Wrestling moves copied from a computer game had been practised on her

• She had been folded into a sofa and sat on, shoved into piles of rubbish, dragged through a sandpit half naked, flung against a wall and dropped from a height onto the floor

• And she had been whirled rapidly on an outdoor rotary clothes line until she was thrown off.

At one point, she was left lying unconscious for 36 hours without medical attention.

'Wider guilt'

Neighbours who saw some of the abuse have told reporters they will live with the guilt of not having informed the authorities sooner.

Court officials said they had been shocked at how some witnesses found the level of violence in the home to be normal.

Prosecutor Fletcher Pilditch said investigators could find no obvious motive for the abuse other than bullying.

"She was bullied in the worst kind of way. She was singled out, for what reason we do not know," he said.

"Both family members and neighbours were aware of the neglect and abuse Nia was subject to," Children's Commissioner Ms Kiro said in a statement.

"That they didn't speak out in time is something they will have to live with."

brought into the argument was how aliens could not have survived in our environment thriving with bacteria like in - WAR OF THE WORLDS

what really surprised me was the fact that such a bizarre method of suicide was actually attempted in Singapore!

i will think that such suicide methods will be common in Japan.(from the impression i got from jap dramas) perhaps nobody even cover such stories anymore.

Arhitecture is no doubt one of the most taxing course ever created.
week1: 2 concurrent assignment. today 3rd assignment given plus my first assignment being failed and asked to redo, like the so many others. so thats 4 assignments in 1 week... the FIRST week.

and my tutors/potential tutors all seem to live in a world of their own, detacted from the dimension we are comfortable in. his critiques seemed to give me a glimpse of his world.a world i am not able to understand.

i wonder if i can ever have views like his..
thoughts so complex
and ever so full of ideas as to how things can be done instead.
i wonder...

i shall keep cycling, even if it takes the last bit of my strength.

i think i will not be able to join in...due to work...

recently it suddenly stuck me that my standard of living has increased tremendously in the past few weeks...
taking up some new stuff to do did change alot of stuff.
been starting to run around to weird areas of the country to take photos.
been reviving my passion for basketball again.
although playing for leisure, i think we're reaching higher levels!
Mahjong skills and concentration during game has improved... after paying some tuition fee...(got them back!)
weekends never felt free anymore... cause activity after activity starts poppin in...

its almost like i found myself a new religion to follow!
where all devotees shall live their life to experience!

this sentence i've heard umpteen times.
it has already become no surprise that when i stand beside a friend and he will not recognise me until i call his name and introduce myself.

but after this whole 3 weeks...
i've deduced the main factor that made me look different.

one day i went to my dentist..
the one i've been going back to for reviews every other week.
Guess WHAT? she couldnt recognise me this week.

okay i must confess... its a replica... but a relatively good one.
this "homage" pays tribute to the perfectly simple and elegantly constructed
Panerai Military watches...( BTW these watches cost a bomb a higher grade "homage" will easily hit 600SGD and above..)

its really a nice watch to own. although a little big for casual wear. but definitely perfect for formal wear... heehee perfect...

Situation REPORT: So Weak...

yesterday, i was running towards my bus from the carpark a 30-40m medium paced dash for my 15minutes waiting time stupid 113... when i reach the deck i just stood there.
for a moment, i almost couldnt breathe! managed to pull out my wallet and "DI" though.
quickly collapsed to the nearest seat to catch my breath.

i was wondering why it happened for a moment...
then it struck me...
a guy surviving on campbell's soup and nutrition milk for the past 2 weeks...
really is not capable of running the 100m shuttle run for IPPT.

but then i realised i really did drop a couple of KG.
i always didnt believe that starving for a couple of days can make a person lose weight. well i was wrong... 1 week of pure liquid diet took off 2 kg...
so if anyone is thinking....

yea... it is so easy!
and i mean it... i am so surprisingly able to live comfortably with liquid diet its starting to scare me. my mum comes screaming...don't you at least have to eat? and it seems... i'm not hungry most of the time...

well of course...what really hurts is the craving...
the crave...slowly biting away my soul...

21thApril...i hope i'll be able to eat soon after that day... haha

Hmm... so i was lookin into the mirror checking out how the swell was doing...
and i started to think... i should keep my hair like... forever
it starting to get a little irritating though... all the heat isn't helping at all.
well i am pretty convinced i should get used to it soon since long hair.. i just never tried keeping em the past 21 years... haha guess i finally understand the extra effort i have to put in... maybe someday i might just make it long enough for dreadlocks...
whahahhaha do know that i wont be able to wash my hair with dreadlocks... so... maybe i'll just keep it till i'm pissed with the itch...then i'll SHAVE'em all whahhaha

i think i saw my friend on the MRT yesterday.
was sitting on on the Exclusive Two-seater for Quick-Asses
was so happy nobody was boarding the same cabin, other cabins were like crap full, and i still managed to get my ass onto a sit!(am i too easily contented?)

so the story begins, i was sitting reading my newpaper, trying my best to carry it high enough so that the idiot beside me can stop peeping. shit i dont know whether he's peeping at me or the newpaper, but i sure was on the verge of giving him some piece of my mind if he didn't stop soon.

then i realised... there's this lady sleeping on the other side of the aisle...

train stopped at a station, she woke up for a moment.
she started to look around a little bit

i wanted to see chio not...
i was stunned.
I THINK...it was Jialing!
Almost unmistake-able it was...
at that precised moment she was exactly staring at me
for like 2 seconds...

so i was sitting at home staring at my SUPER 3-in-1.
Playin Scissor Paper Stone with the calendar in front of me.
Well, i won.. it was no surprise.
But i sure didn't take out another SACHET OF THAT CRAP!
Recently, the coffee aroma from instant coffees just turned pale...
Every sight of Instant milk coffee starts to disgust me!

So i decided, to start brewing coffee instead!

look from my army close friend, i was really glad to see a familiar face in the same school at that early-in-the-morning-beat-the-crowd time.

it was all aye how've you been since ORD? working? and alot of yadaa yadaa catching up.
though somehow something felt wrong...there isn't really the "x-factor" to keep us talking, i decided to let it go, finish the last x-ray and go home. bye friend.

10minutes later i was on my way to the bus stop to take a look at the carefully detailed campus i got a call.

"hey this is (that friend). Were you at the health check 10minutes ago? cause... you know...i think i saw someone like you but i cannot be sure."

i will revenge on those ugly little fried crispy yummy, i cant wait to get my hands on them, spicy, hot, and full of flour, padded onto their smooth beige skin together with the layer of tasty sinful, unforgiving unsaturated fat dripping off the chuck of white lean strands of muscle desperately clinging to the maroon blood drenched calcium. FEAST!!! IN HONOUR OF THE FRIED MASSACRE by GENIUS KENTUCKY!

Vision slowly twisting off the significantly smaller bone buried deep inside the thigh as i lick off the scalding juice ooshing from within and savour the all important moment.FIRST BLOOD. looking into the hollowed piece of thigh meat brings me to an all-time high as i start to tear the pieces of meat bit by bit off making sure i don't forget the Crispy, spicy, crumble in your hands piece of art that cloaked my game. till all is left is the bone, the meal is not 7/10 devoured. lies beneath, close to the bone is a bulge of lean muscle camouflaged to look like part of the bone, but not well enough to escape my keen eyes. as i slowly chewed on the pathetically camouflaged meat i check out the dark matter lying close to the side of bone, carefully covered by a row of fragile bones i peeled off with me nimble hands. the dark matter glowed a last sinister glow as i set my digestive forces on them.

now that all the thigh's gone, its time for my...OTHER THIGH MEAT.

no wait...this is not thigh meat...

haha heres a little something i took today at East Coast Park.
really glad i went there today...was on the verge of turning back home when i saw the dark clouds as i was waiting at the bus stop. walked towards home a little, then decided to take the risk and try beating the rain. HAHA! end up there were only beautiful cloud formations at east coast! not a single drop of rain!
the photos i managed to get was incredible!
all of which are the kind that i have always wanted to capture but was never able to - with a simple compact camera!

i guess its really an interesting hobby...
haha but kind of feeling bad - for wearing out my brother's camera for my own interest! should do something about it real soon...

Wow was running round and round the park downstairs. The transformer fever is finally over. During this month long fever i've been to toys'r'us a few times and never once did i manage to locate the OPTIMUS PRIME! (not that i wanted to buy one) the phenomenum was not hard to explain, those who were fans of the original transformers are now well in their 20s and can easily afford the ridiculously priced toys that they were never able to afford. another interesting fact that i found out was that nobody likes bad guys. the AUTOBOTS that came with the DECEPTICONS were wiped off the shelves leaving a hell lot of decepticon stocks!
